During the summer holiday I had been spoiling myself with buying new books. Collectively now after I counted them all, I have a total of twelve new books. 📚 Maybe for some of you those aren’t that many but it’s still a lot more than I usually buy in a month. Most of them I bought from a clearance sale at a local bookstore Books and Beyond. Hence I could afford to buy that many. 😋 The rest I purchased full price at the Indonesia International Book Fair that was held on the first week of September. Here are the pictures I took and the list of my lovely new books. If you notice there are only ten books in the picture. It’s because the other two I lent them to my friends.

  1. Archie Comics: Archie the Married Life by Paul Kupperberg
I bought this comic because I’m obsessed with Riverdale. 😍 Any of you haven’t watched that show? Well, you totally should. I’m excited for its comeback which is only like a few weeks away. Apparently though, because I’m so obsessed I didn’t notice that the comic was book or volume four of the Archie series. I just automatically grabbed the book when I saw it. 🤷
  2. Android Karenina by Leo Tolstoy and Ben H. Winters
I don’t even know why I bought this. It’s definitely classic and I don’t like classics. I think at the time I was shocked it was written by Leo Tolstoy, and I got curious so I bought it. When I showed it to my friends, they said it was a popular book from Tolstoy. See? That’s just how much I suck at basic classics knowledge. 🙈
  3. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
This is the second book in the Starbound trilogy to which I don’t even own the first book (These Broken Stars) of. And I have no interest in reading the series. This is one of that times when you randomly buy a book(s) for no other reason than because doing it makes you happy. 😜
  4. The Host by Stephenie Meyer
I bought it because I’ve watched the movie and I thought maybe someday I’ll read the book.
  5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I’ve also seen the TV show of this. I stopped watching in the middle of season 2. It didn’t appeal to me anymore, no idea why. I thought maybe reading the book will bring my mood back for the TV show. I doubt it though. 😅
  6. Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
This one I genuinely like. I have read Beautiful Disaster which was written from the female MC perspective. This one was written from the male MC point of view. 🙃
  7. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
I have read this book. In fact I have a review of it here. I didn’t like this book, but it was there for only $2. Now way was I gonna just walk away without buying it. 🙅
  8. Caraval by Stephanie Garber
I’ve heard so many good things about this. I’m excited to find they are all true.
  9. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
This is said to be the best book of 2017, so I had to have it. I’ve read this actually. I don’t know how to describe it without blabbering too much. So I’m just going to direct you to my review of this book here. 😉
  10. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’m currently reading this book. Oh and it’s DOPE!!! ❤️ I love Ezra. I think of him as a combination of Kai and Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles series. 😂
  11. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
Leigh Bardugo is one of my auto-buy author. Although the only books from her that I currently have are the Six of Crows duology, I plan to complete my collection soon.
  12. One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
I don’t think I’ve ever read this type of book, and I wanted to try it out.

All those books are in paperback format, except Illuminae which is a hardcover. The books on the number one until seven were bought from the clearance sale. The books that were being sold for half price only were mostly old books, old as in they were published during the past five to seven years. It was either that or the books were unpopular ones I’ve never heard of in my entire existence. I purchased those books on sale not because I wanted to read them, but mostly because I could buy them for cheap, and because it brought me joy. 😂 On the other hand, the books on the number eight until twelve were books that I really really wanted to read. I got them for full price. Nonetheless, knowing I could afford them made me ten times happier. 😊

Now moving on to my favorite summer reads. I read so many books in summer. I’m not going to tell you what they all were because most of them were already on my wrap up posts. However, what I’m gonna reveal to you are my favorite ones. ❤️

What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum | Made You Up by Francesca Zappia | The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas | Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia | The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

If you haven’t read any of those books, you really should right away! They were all really good. What to Say Next, Made You Up, and Eliza and Her Monsters deal with characters who have mental health problem or mental disorder. The Hating Game was super fun to read. If you’re looking for a good laugh, this one is for you. Meanwhile, The Hate U Give was a roller-coaster read. 💞

The Raven Boys | The Dream Thieves | Blue Lily, Lily Blue | The Raven King

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater
I’m so happy I’m finally thorough with this series. It was a good, fun, and refreshing experience reading these books. Although most of the time I was dying waiting for Gansey and Blue to happen. 😂

Those are all the books I bought and I love. Did you buy a lot of books during the summer? What are your favorite summer reads? I’d love to hear from you. That’s all I can share for now. Thank you for reading. Hasta la vista! 😘
